If anything, this last election in Clay County has hopefully taught us that we need good QUALIFIED candidates to run for public office (and to a greater extent, people to actually care about doing candidate research when they vote). I know, many have election withdrawals this time of year, but it’s time to start thinking about the future.

Have you ever thought about running for political office? Well, maybe it’s time! I know the pay sucks, the process is a little daunting, but that shouldn’t deter you. We need good, honest, principled people who care about their country and community to step up to the plate.

First, before we even start thinking about 2012, we need to start thinking about school boards. This is one that is near, and dear, to my heart. It’s also an area where we are in dire need of fiscal conservatives! When you look at your local tax burden, schools account for the largest chunk of it. Unfortunately, often no one pays any attention to them and those on the boards just think money grows on trees.

I know for a fact that the Liberty School Board will have three positions up for election in April 2011. The filing deadline is fast approaching. You must file before January 18, 2011 to be eligible to run for one of these positions.

As you have seen from the most recent installment in the wacky world of Clay County Politics, we could also use some people interested in local office in 2012.

At the state level, there is a good chance that we will have two, maybe even two more house seats in Clay County. Also, Ryan Silvey will be terming out, and we will need someone to run there.

If interested just drop me a line at claycomopolitics@gmail.com and I would be happy to chat with you and get you in touch with the right people here in the county and inside the Republican party.
