RINOs SUPPORTING EDUCATION IDEAS THAT DON’T WORK AND @RYANSILVEY IS INVOLVED

I came across this article on The Missouri Times website, “Lawmakers tout support for early education”. (For those that don’t know, The Missouri Times is a new, weekly newspaper in Jefferson City that was created by former Missouri Speaker of the House Rod Jetton.) Anyway, whose name do we find inside the article. None other than local RINO, union-loving, Clay County Senator Ryan Silvey.

Inside the article is this quote from Sen. Jason Holsman. ““There’s not a dollar this state will spend that is more important than early childhood education.

Ummm… No sir, I don’t care what your precious America’s Edge lobbying group’s research study claims. Here, how about some research that proves the opposite.

From the Cato Institute:

“High Quality” Pre-K States Show Mixed Results

Preschool’s Anvil Chorus

The trouble with federal-government-funded preschooling is that we have 47 years of experience with it … and it doesn’t work. The federal Head Start pre-K program was created in 1965, and despite decades of concerted efforts to refine and improve it it has virtually no measurable effects that last to the end of the third grade—or even the first. And of the very few and modest effects that have been found at the end of the third grade, some are actually negative. That is what federal government pre-K has accomplished with $200 billion and half a century of effort. Is that a sensible basis for expanding federal government pre-K?

Like Its Big Sibling, Early Head Start Not Built to Last

As a note, I went and looked at America’s Edge’s website. I don’t have the time to read their research that they offer in its entirety, but they do offer very little. Not surprising, dig a little bit into their website and you find the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation as a donor.

We don’t need any more public education. As a matter of fact, I think we need less, and I am a public school teacher.

What do I mean?

There should not be one cent of public funds ever spent on pre-K. We are hearing the same cries that the Kindergarten promoters used years ago. Adding Kindergarten did so much for us! I also think that there should be no such thing as a public college. All post-secondary should be privately funded. I know that’s not a reality, but I am not going to stand by and support more public education funding that is not supported by research. Pre-K is just publicly funded babysitting, and it will be one more public handout that further encourages people to not be responsible for their own lives and their own children. If you want to send your child to early childhood education, pay for it yourself.

Missouri reminds me of Kansas several years ago. You have to keep your eyes on both the Republicans and the Democrats.

Please call your state senators and representatives and tell them that Missouri does not need to be funding early childhood education. Please, less government, not more!
